Re: FEEDBACK for Daicon: Take 2

Postby HimeAiko@QLP on 17 Jul 2009 14:57

Reposting my comments again since it kinda got unanswered.hope its ok.

To be honest,i only went for day 2 and most people have said everything that i wanted to say already but i have a few things i wanna share

1)I felt that maybe there should have been a rule that spots that are not in front of the entrance are the only places allowed to take shots.I remember that CF08 had this rule right?please correct me if i'm wrong.i was with a cosplayer friend on Sunday.his camera was with me so i accompanied him quite a fair bit.he just went inside the hall,he was requested for pics until he got stuck at the entrance area for 20-30 mins....(this happened almost everytime he walked in and out of the hall) I totally understand the urge to take shots because i'm a photographer myself but please, sometimes ppl just went into the hall and they have not even had a chance to take a breather and walk.I'm sorry to say this, this is only the 4th con i have been to but all the other cons i have been to,i have never seen people getting stopped at the entrance literally when they just came in?I'm guilty of asking for shots too but its in rare cases.

2)There was not enough promotion about the food booths.I only knew where it was because someone told me about it

3)What's up with the now infamous "Berlin Wall"? i mean i understand the need for a barricade but to be honest,i have been to couple of concerts before and some of them with ticket prices that are more expensive. At most, the barrier they have are the metal ones and it allows everyone to see.I had to climb up on a chair just to see what is going on (i'm really chibi) and my friend had to support me from behind because i still had to lean back to see.Its not fun and its scary to think i can just fall over. The "Berlin Wall" kinda killed the fun a bit

4)Emcees...this is one of the rare events i have been to where i felt the emcee was really boring and not hyping things up.Half the time,i don't even know what exactly is going on because i felt there wasn't much announcement. Not to compare but the guy promoting Dell outside of the hall sounded more lively and i felt more interested to listen to him instead.

5)Locking of the middle door and switching off the lights.Me and my friend went out of the hall for a bit and came back to see the lights switched off and doors locked later? I honestly thought there was an announcement that i missed but much later i found out that there was no announcements about it?Its not fair to the doujin booths and the cosplayers.I'm sorry to say that.

6)To the PR person of this event,I sent two e-mails to you requesting for a press pass.Yes,i'm a blogger but i also explained that i would like to cover this event for a journalism assignment for my college assignment.I understood that you couldn't have given the press pass to me as i'm just a blogger but after the event,i goggled a bit and found out that there was a blogger pass?! I mean what is this?I wouldn't have mind if you just gave me a blogger pass (its still a pass @-@) but to be honest, you did not even inform me about it and you only replied me after my 2nd e-mail which is like a month after i sent in my 1st one. That's my only gripe with the committee.Otherwise, all the rest of them are pretty sweet and nice during the event especially Wen :)

just to add some good points lar

1)committee was friendly & helpful

2)the maid cafe was interesting :)

3) there was quite some space to walk around and the hall was very cooling

4)lighting was super awesome for shots

5)Cosplayers were very friendly and obliging to let me take shots of them

6)more than enough facilities available

7) doujin booth owners were very nice

8)soundsystem and lighting during the concert was awesome :)

That's all

Hime Aiko, to answer your question:

We didn't have such a rule at CF08. What we did have was a rule that forbade ANY cosplay photography at the Artist booth area. You're also not allowed to take any pictures unless the booth owner gave you permission.

I don't think we had a rule where we said you couldn't take pics, but I do remember we did ask people to not block the entrance and exit.

Here's my feedback, I haven't write one and when I want to, the previous thread already closed. ^^;;

The good
1. The staff committee was really helpful. :)
2. The toilet is big and clean. XD
3. The air-conditioner is good, it's not too cold for someone like me who can't stand the cold. ^^;;
and other good things already been mentioned by others. ^^

Stuff that can be improve
1. Concert stage, I know it's a concert and people rarely sit down when watching a concert and most of them stand up but please use your common sense. The stage is not that high and when the fanboys stand up, I couldn't see Chihara Minori at all. Well, only her face but my sister who sits next to me at the back row couldn't see her at all and she's sitting for the whole concert and only listened to Chihara's singing, :( The left row next to me, all of them just sit down because they couldn't see her either and the left side projector isn't turn on/not used at all. The right side projector only turned on after half of the concert, I think, couldn't remember it much. I agree with some previous comments, perhaps change the concert to another hall or something.
2. I want to try the maid cafe but every time I went there, it was always full. maybe next time, then. ^^;;

I think that's all. ^_^

As I thought, the expected text book cover up by Kurogane is just simply amusing, seeing that he's entirely convinced that with such schematic reply *slash* cover up would actually sooth out the RAGED crowd.

Dear Kurogane,

The fact that you can only reply with such reply.

We are not beating a dead horse, over and over again. We really hoped that you actually learnt your lesson over the disastrous ACG massacre event which you guys organize. But...

Your post mortem was pathetic. It wasn't a post-mortem, and it's a sad thing that you guys failed to understand the definition of "post-mortem" and it's purpose. It's beyond belief that you guys actually claimed that the event was a "HUGE SUCCESS". Excuse me, but I believe that the committees are severely confused... or just being in denial to make themselves look good.

DaiCon, oh DaiCon. You so worked up over Chihara Minori that you guys actually are blinded by it. Look around you, my poor boy. Have you seen such "rage" in other events? CF? GACC? ACGC? or even "Hotlink" event? Look around you again, my poor boy.

Have you been to Animangaki? I wonder why the event was a huge success ( by standand textbook definition, not DaiCon's dictionary ) when they don't have any seiyuu to hype about? How about Ichibanzai then? No seiyuu but it's still entertaining. What do you guys have minus Chihara Minori? Again, I repeat, what do you guys have minus Chihara Minori? And I shall repeat the repeated question again, what do you guys have minus Chihara Minori? ( If you actually answered this dumbly, that's 3 the dumbness you have )

Lol. How about Hotlink event then? It's a common fact that it sucked, but does it generate such RAGE?

For your event to SUCK that badly requires a "suspension of common sense" to a unmeasurable magnitude. You left us gawked at it's unbelievableness. Like the fact that you stick to "that" emcee when there's a better emcee affiliated to Spirits of Music and rejected his offer over uncomprehenable reasons.

I would love you to answer these questions, Mr. Public Relations of DaiCon. Please answer with a sensible answer too, for sure we are not entertained by your commercialized responses.

1. Why did you ever close the main door?
2. Do you honestly care about other matters in the hall?
3. Most of the sponsors I interviewed was pissed, I never seen such dissapointment from the sponsors before, why?
4. Do you honestly understand why people are on rage?
5. Will you contact the press to shut up?
6. Do you have common sense?
7. Did you use common sense?
8. Do you understand what's the definition of common sense?
9. Are you lying?
10. Can you not lie?

Oh, just because your event sucked and you're in complete denial over that fact, you want to BAD MOUTH other event. Seriously, enough is enough.

logs from #DaiCon channel ( taken from http://yuhi-homura.livejournal.com/72124.html )

Opps.. Naughty naughty. I see what you did thar...

Very mature, Kurogane. First, lying to yourself that the event was a huge success. Then, using lies to cover up your event mishaps. Now, spreading lies about other event. I wonder what else you can conjour up with?

Your club President ( who was a mere slave to you ) booked the spot for Comic Fiesta and GACC. If it's illegal in the first place, your committee wouldn't approve it in the first place. As far as my sources goes, no one told them that the booth was illegal on that spot during the event. It would be stupid for them to continue their operation if you guys actually did tell them that it's illegal.

Wait a minute, don't tell me you want to look for a fight with Comic Fiesta too? Wow, such arrogance. Very fascinating by organizing an epic failure event could make you people grow some balls. Impressive. Laughing out loud, don't tell me that you guys actually think you guys are greater than Comic Fiesta itself? Auww... so cute. I will highly anticipate your OWN online forum with our OWN community.

Well, you've heard rumors about multiple clubs are boycotting your event but still, it's very impressive that you manage to elevate your arrogance off the chart.

Go ahead, Kurogane. Go ahead and boycott GACC. You're talking like as if they care ( which I'm entirely convinced that they actually don't care... and might be happier than before. ). That's like an open insult to an event that "actually tried" to serve the ACG fans, indirectly insulting the ACG fans too because you don't care about them who WANTS a good event.

EDIT: For additional good read, here's what the legendary kiDChan thinks of the event : http://kitmun.livejournal.com/334578.html

I'm dearly waiting for your reply. Stop sweating, and DO reply.

Sincerely,
RAGE

PS: I'll remove this post if the GACC committees have any issues with this post. Sorry in advance.

Jeebus I'd shake your hand if i knew who you were.

Reports i had from the Daicon indicate otherwise with sponsor satisfaction. Kurogane even threw me a challenge to call them up and ask if they were satisfied.

Then again, it's Daicon's version of the story.

I can't totally believe yours 100% either. I think i'll just stick to my opinion piece in Shrine.

PS - I'm writing this in a personal capacity. Not an official one.

Good God now I know why everybody and their grandmothers are reading my LJ. Not that I mind, it's just a bit overwhelming to see random people commenting (not like there's that many of em in the first place) in my little space on the internet.

But oh well, whatever..┐(-。ー;)┌

Yuecchi you're popular :P

I have on comment on the maid cafe though. My doujin booth was conveniently located right next to the entrance of this cafe, and we are pretty much constantly surrounded with eager and excited photographers who want to snap pictures of these maids. We don't mind, really, but when those maids start dumping their pens/pencils and paper right on top of our stuffs on our table to pose properly, well, that is a different story. I think you guys should not have placed a booth too closely with the maid cafe. It was really hazardous for my booth, especially since we had dollfies on our table. The poor dolls fell down several times after numerous people kept on bumping on our table accidentally without apologizing

About the Go To GACC part. I'm sorry but I have to admit, I actually enjoyed that even if others don't. I saw the beginnings of the march, and towards the end of it (due to where our booth was located). To say it was rude to do so, I don't know. As an outsider who knows that GACC is organized by the sister club who organized DaiCon, I just find it interesting and nice to see how these two clubs actually cooperate with one another. I guess I was wrong? Still, I did enjoy the march. It was something that I did not have to leave the booth to watch something interesting going on. LoL

I just lol'd at the comment. I think you overreacting because you guys put too high expectations on this event which is just started this YEAR. People falls down and eventually got up and learned from their mistakes. They grow up.

Everything is still moot lol. GACC Committee was like making a fuzz in other events blah blah blah... But the again, from other point of view it could be like; I lol'd at the thing.

Then again, different people have different point of view. What I'm so pissed off right now is about the maid cafe.

Rage, you took the words right out of my mouth.

I actually expected better from DaiCon.

Takes a lot to get me to post about events these days, but the handling of the whole DaiCon event left me with a rather sour taste in the mouth.

Badmouthing your "rivals" is one of the easiest ways to get people to look down on you. Your PR skills are quite bad, Kurogane. Don't you have the time/patience to reply to each of those concerns? I notice you write for a paper; do you actually know how to handle PR, or did you just jump on the job because you were in the press?

Bad bad training. Please learn from other event organisers: Whenever possible, reply to each point raised professionally and individually. Or do you actually not know how to handle such complaints?

I was bored during the event. Thank goodness for meeting up with friends. Really, I've never been to such a horribly-organised event before. Or, met with such bad PR (even the Taylor's College event had people who bothered to reply to complaints individually in a forum and civilly!). A single post saying that you understand all the issues raised does not a PR person make.

Are you going to be logging in and replying now, or will you just keep your "elegant silence" like a certain ex-PM?

Hi guys, er... I would like to apologize on behalf of the Maid Cafe. >A< Basically the schedule for working shift is a bit.... effed up. On saturday morning, there were 6 maids, and afternoon, only 5. I don't know how the morning shift did, but apparently there was not enough manpower at all in the afternoon, in result, yeah, you know. >< Sorry for the few who got in but were not 'layan'-ed, or the ones who get their food half an hour after u ordered. @@;

As for sunday, well, from my point of view as a working comm, there were only 5-6 active maids working, while the others were busy 'attracting' camera. In result, another busy day, but we had a better schedule and job on sunday.

Because of the busy-ness and lack of schedule, and lack of training (i also duno why we start to practice/be active onli a week before daicon? Lol), well, that's what happened >< But thank you for the comments, we'll definitely do a better research, food provider and definitely COSTUMES (my housemate - Choyuki, which is also 1 of the 'active' maid, made the most complain about how the costume -insert words here-) in the near future.

Once again, i apologize @@; any other question/complaints, i'll pass them to the committee and learn from them. :q

Flame > nice poster. I like it.

Chikoness > Everything comes to planning and briefing , as well as know each and every committee. As I gather some information from my "spy" , he told me that he don't even know the other department person in charge , not even the name ! Without communicate with other members , how do they co-operate ? Yet I got a "news which I heard it after the end of first day " The director wants to make the event like AFA" ( AFA is an international event in SG , as I know ). Is like " wtf ? how could it be possible ?!?" , funny right ? Yet I still hold the proposal of DaiCon , tell you guys if you see it you will LAUGH YOUR BRAIN OUT FROM YOUR NOSE ! Frankly. Want to know why ? Reason is simple. THEY DON'T HAVE SUCH HEAD BUT STILL WANT TO WEAR THE CAP THAT IS BIGGER THEIR HEAD. Thats all for now.

P/S : Kinda pissed off because of their "childish proposal" , I lost lots of money there. Don't ask how much , because is too much.

Early Disclaimer : By writing this, I might get myself banned instantaneously and see this post being removed due to it's "exciting" controversial content. So if you're reading this, please by all means copy it, save it and spread the word. With this piece of information I'm sharing, I hope that you'll make your own judgment based on the contents given, not being biased by my opinions. My opinions here are methods of me unleashing my internal rage because by my profession, I'm not allowed to do so.

As time goes by, my RAGE finally cools down. I tried visiting this forum days before hoping some enlightenment from the "other" side would actually end the rage, but instead of enlightenment, the laughable capacity of the server made me LOL at it thus slowly involuntarily eases my rage down. I had to move on and stop beating this rotting horse already. Let's look forward and pray hard that the next event doesn't suck, or they'll receive an indefinite RAGE BASH by me ( I'm looking at you, GACC ). Slowly, DaiCon is a thing of the past and most just had to agree with this as there's nothing we can do about it ( unless Dr. Emmett Brown really came out with the Flux Capacitor so that we can all travel back in time and warn everyone to attend CosFest, and laugh at those who actually went to DaiCon ).

[01:43] <Cholic> I wouldn't call it as Daicon. This will totally insult the main objective of the convention, the original vision of what Daicon should be, and I wouldn't want to insult the hardwork of the President, the Vice President and their hardworking committee. <--- uh..
[01:44] <Cholic> sorta wrong info

[01:44] <Honey-chan> dear cholic...
[01:44] <Honey-chan> right now at this moment
[01:44] <Honey-chan> the way you're replying
[01:44] <Cholic> but oh well the public had been feed with lies by a bunch of ppl
[01:44] <Honey-chan> it's very snobbish
[01:44] <Cholic> im sorry Honey-chan but i have nothing to say
[01:44] <Honey-chan> so do take care of how you phrase your words
[01:44] <Cholic> what im saying now is my PERSONAL opinion

[01:45] <Cholic> if i am to give a reply officially, i will say so
[01:45] <Cholic> otherwise, it's a personal opinion :)

[01:45] <Honey-chan> politicians have fallen because of one misplaced word
[01:45] <Cholic> look, we're not politician
[01:45] <Cholic> so you're wrong there

[01:45] <Honey-chan> you've already done enough damage to your own credibility
[01:45] <Honey-chan> don't damage it further
[01:45] <Cholic> im not
[01:45] <Honey-chan> you're not politicians yes, but no harm in taking a comparison
[01:46] <Cholic> you're making assumptions, hearing only to one side which make urself piss even more :)
[01:46] <nubl> honey-chan, drop it, i think cholic's side has made it quite clear they don't give a damn what people think of them
[01:46] <nubl> at least it's not pretentious
[01:46] <Honey-chan> by replying in such a high-handed, obnoxious manner, you've already done quite a lot of damage there, showing you're unrepentant
[01:46] <Cholic> i dont see why the committee has to bother to explain when ppl already make their own assumptions? :)
[01:46] <Honey-chan> i've already heard kuro's side and the other side of the story
[01:46] <Cholic> i believe Kuro has explained to you :)
[01:46] <Honey-chan> and i won't bother to make conclusions
[01:46] <Cholic> so it should be fine
[01:47] <Honey-chan> as i told him, i am sticking to my opinion piece
[01:47] <Cholic> u made some already
[01:47] <Honey-chan> but the way you're going about it, makes me very uncomfortable with how things are turning out
[01:47] <Cholic> or else you wouldnt go around writing that articles of you wouldnt you? :)
[01:47] <Honey-chan> cholic, i haven't written anyting new
[01:47] <Cholic> im not pissed at anyone regarding their comments
[01:47] <Honey-chan> because of my own standards of information gathering
[01:47] <Cholic> im pissed on how certain ppl feed the public with lies
[01:47] <Cholic> lies and more lies

[01:47] <Honey-chan> if i can't verify on the scene, i am not writing it
[01:48] <Cholic> and accusing us, the committee telling own our lies
[01:48] <Honey-chan> why else you think i'm not writing on these issues at all?
[01:48] <Cholic> im here, in the committee, so i know what happened
[01:48] <Honey-chan> cholic, the way you come across to those NOT in the committee smacks of self-denial
[01:48] <Cholic> the fact that u hear "stories" from chris just made me laugh
[01:48] <Cholic> and~~ he want to punch me didnt he? lolz

[01:48] <Honey-chan> i may HEAR stories from chris but i did tell kuro that i can't accept 100% what he's saying
[01:49] <Honey-chan> and neither can i accept 100% what you're saying
[01:49] <Cholic> you dont seem to REACT that way
[01:49] <Honey-chan> i follow public opinion cholic
[01:49] <Cholic> so i couldnt bother lolz
[01:49] <Honey-chan> and public opinion towards you isn't good
[01:49] <Honey-chan> so please, buck up
[01:49] <Cholic> Honey-chan
[01:49] <nubl> following opinions isn't very good journalism, is it?
[01:49] <Cholic> please stop it :)
[01:50] <Honey-chan> <nubl> following opinions isn't very good journalism, is it? <-- i don't write lock stock and barrel by following opinions
[01:50] <Honey-chan> what i do is find out what people are thinking, and add my own opinions and conclusions if they're owrhtwhile
[01:50] <Honey-chan> 8worthwhile
[01:50] <Cholic> yes please continue doing that :)
[01:50] <Cholic> i have nothing else to say

Uh oh! Someone just stole "the football" and press the nuke button. The calm lake in my head superheated into a raging sea of molten lava. Okay, not really. I really didn't went on rage this time. I was literally amused with the fact that such conversation existed. Try to guess who actually sent me this chatlog?

Bingo! The internal committee themselves.

We all can gladly accept the fact that Kurogane is an asshole and not really good at doing his job. Now, let's explore to another fact that we have another DaiCon committee who sets the nuclear fission reaction in my head - "Cholic". As I was informed, "she" is the Treasurer of the event.

You've read the log? Let me summarize it: "RAGE is lying. RAGE is assuming. RAGE don't know the real thing. RAGE will be on my side if RAGE know the real thing. Laugh."

Interesting, another classic case of "You don't know the real thing... but I can't tell you". I'll tell you what happened really: Cholic's mom was taken hostage by a GACC Terrorist. The demand is ensure that people hates the event, and tell no one about this. Leak it out, and mom dies. Also, must pretend like hiding something so that the committees looks stupid. [ assumption may vary. please consult your nearest conspiracy teorist for more accurate assumptions ]

Cholic, you're making yourself look like and idiot. Let me guess, you'll gladly accept the fact that you're an idiot. Wait, no no. You'll tell me that I can assume whatever I want. That sounds cool to me, I'll start by assuming your real name is "Douche". Yes, you're dying to tell everyone that you're laughing at this statement too. Hmm? What was it again? "damn funny lolx", yes that.

What a cute child. This amazing discovery of the high committees of DaiCon are made out of children gives me the adreline rush to type such long post even more.

Panic, my dear Cholic. Panic. What's going on behind the monitor, my dear Cholic? Are you trying to do damage control by making yourself look cool? Oh, an impressive infallible amount of arrogance there. I wonder what's the amount of stress piling up in your head. Do you smoke? Maybe you should try to rot your brain cells a bit, it helps at times. Panic, my dear Cholic. Panic.

You know George W Bush? Everyone thinks he's a retard, and he doesn't care. You, my dear Cholic, are just like George W Bush.

Remember the days when he tore down Iraq into pieces and claims that Saddam Hussein owns Weapons of Mass Destruction? I felt like you're spreading such propaganda with staggering amount of confidence, without knowing that you actually looked like a fool... just like George W Bush.

Oh? You're pissed on how certain ppl feed the public with lies? What lies? Oh, wait, you mean that... DaiCon sucked? Hmm, that convincingly sounds like a lie to you. DaiCon was a huuuge success amirite? Other events sucks and let's boycott them because Daicon IS the community now. Why even bother going to an event without a super star from Japan? That is just sooo not cool.

Well, even if it sucked and have bad reputation, does it matter? It's no longer your problem, amirite? Scoffs, fascinating act of selfishness.

Oh Honey-chan, I must salute you for your awesome journalism work. You're tried your best not to be biased and gave them the oppurtunity to explain themselves. If you do know their side of the story, please do share it with us. Very diplomatic, I truely respect that. But sad, they took it for granted and use it as chance to make themselves look worse than before. It must be hard trying to help an idiot who doesn't appreciate the help.

Btw, flame13th. I like you ( sarcastically, duh? ). I like people who tries so hard to sound cool with presumably cool looking statement like that

I'm wondering why some people simply want to create an account just to badmouth about DaiCon in here.

:P

Maybe it is just my imagination.

Mind you, let's not start talking about the irony of a newcomer with solid constructive wall of text while you, an old timer having a hard time trying to digest my sea of roman letters on screen, and made other forumers having a hard time trying to digest your so called 'cool posts'. I love you, boy. You made me laugh. Go wonder why did you ever posted such thing.

So, there you go, my lovely CF forumers. This would be my final post in this forum, and it has been a good visit. Thanks for the support and screw you DaiCon fanboys, and please die if you get to see the concert for free because you're buddy-buddying with the high comm.

Also, good luck Emina Cyber, I heard Kurogane is trying to topple down the current president and trying to rise to power. Yes, Kurogane, I received your spectacular mail about your plans. Now now, don't try to guess who am I . Can you imagine Kurogane being the president of the club? Destroying an event is not cool enough I guess, not until the club goes down too. I salute you Kurogane, such destructive ambitions marinated with juicy cockiness. Just fantabulous, I say. Fantabulous.

Wait, why not I just PASTE it here!? I'm going to banned anyway...

To all DaiCon working committees,

I realize most of you all are interested to join EMiNA after working for DaiCon and here's your chance to do so.

Before the AGM is held, Mr. Timothy, the club advisor, has kindly agreed to allow membership registrations up until the AGM starts. So there will be window of opportunity to join EMiNA during the AGM, which has been changed to the night of Tuesday, 28th of July, after a discussion between Mr. Timothy, Mr. Omar and Mr. Fazri. The venue will be decided and informed later, maybe on Monday. If you are interested to join the club, please come a little earlier for registration and bring RM 5 for new membership or RM 3 if you are renewing it.

During the AGM, Mr. Timothy has agreed to hold elections for the main executive committee positions, namely for the President, Vice President(s), Secretary and Treasurer. In order to continue holding DaiCon, I have decided to run for President post, along with Eric for Vice Presidency, Wan(from the karaoke division) for Secretary and Adrian (from the doujin division) as the Treasurer in order to restructure the club in to a better shape to prepare for any future events. I can clearly say I have no faith in the previous executive committees of the club and they intend to continue their hold on the club for the next year.

What I hope is that everyone who had volunteered the time for DaiCon and wish to be part of any future events being held, can come to the EMiNA AGM on Tuesday and have your say in the club's future. I believe there's a lot in store for the club and I hope to be able to exploit the full potential of the club with all of you wonderful working committees who worked tirelessly during the event. I hope to get all of your support during the AGM to bring the club's name to greater heights.

If you have any questions or doubts of any form, feel free to email me back or contact me directly.

Thank you,
--
Tan Jia Ming,
Public Relations Director,
DaiCon Committee.

Bravo, Kurogane. Bravo.

/RAGE QUIT

Post Script: Never let childish kids run an event again. Now, let me roll on the floor laughing. Thanks.
