1) Cosplay Competition
Cosplay derived from the words ‘costume playing’ or ‘costume roleplay’, is the most important event and a must in every anime convention. This competition allows participants or cosplayer to dress-up as their choosen characters drawn from any anime, comics or video games. Points are given to the cosplayers, determined by how detailed the costumes are presented and how well the characters’ personalities are portrayed by each participants.
2) Junior Cosplay Competition
Same as “cosplay Competition” but it is only open for kid age 12 and below to participate. And also the rules and judging point will be slightly different from “Cosplay Competition”.
3) Cosplay Skit Competition
This competition involves a number of cosplayers forming a group of at least two. They work together to act out a typical scene from any anime series, movies, comics or video games. The participating groups are judged based on the scene they present, their acting skills and cooperativeness combined.
4) Cosplay Skit Couple Mode Competition
Similar as “Cosplay Skit Competition” but it only involve a pair of cosplayers cosplaying a couple character from an anime series or movie. They need to act out a typical scene from anime series or movies, or even better own creation of scene by carrying out the actual attitudes of those couple characters they cosplayed.
5) Mangaka Competition
Manga means comic, whereby a mangaka is the artist who draws comics or manga. This is a drawing competition which requires participants to produce a few pages of manga with a proper content, however is submitted earlier before the convention is held. Prizes are awarded to the winners on the actual day. This competition encourages the talented to show their skills and creativity in the art of manga drawing.
6) Anime Dai-Fan!
Dai-Fan generally means ‘huge fan’ in Japanese. Here, big anime fans participate and compete with each other in a quiz show based on a few selected famous anime series like Naruto, Bleach, Dragonball and Gundam. It’s a quiz for them to show-off their knowledge in their favorite anime series they watched.
7) Anime Amazing Race
It’s a race against time. Similar to TV shows ‘The Amazing Race’, teams in pair will compete each other for the ultimate prize. During the races, players will encounter both physical and mental obstacles from finding the right spot or person based on tricky anime clues to answering anime based quizzes and also other tasks. The team that answer the question correctly or complete a task correctly will receive their next clues. Collect all those clues and it will lead the team to the finishing line whereby the first team to arrive will be the winner of the race.
8) Anime Shiken!
Anime Shikens means Anime Exam in Japanese. Participants will be given a set of Exam paper based on various general anime questions and are required to complete and submit back the exam paper in the time frame given. This is a chance for those anime lovers to test their knowledge and at the same time compete among each other to test who has the best knowledge in anime series.
9) Anime Colouring Contest
It’s a contest for those anime fans age under 12 years old to show off their interest and skill in colour pencil colouring. The young contestants are required to colour a piece of anime theme drawing given. Top 3 winners will be chosen based on how well their colouring skill is.
10) Bento Making Contest
Bento means Lunch Box in Japanese. This is a contest where participants are required to make the most creative and appealing lunch box using the ingredients given in a limited frame of time.
11) Japanese Noodle Eating Contest
Participants will be given a big bowl of Japanese Noodle in which they are required to finish as fast as they can include the soup. The first to finish the whole bowl clean wins.
12) Treasure Hunt
Only open to participants age 12 and below. Participants will be given a clue to find the treasure in a selected area.
